Well, this weekend was very fun as my family and I went to Chicago. We visited the Chi-town famous places, including: The Bean (did you know that it is made from liquid Mercury? Yup..just a little fact that I "picked up" along the way!), Millenium Park with the "Spitting Sign's Fountain Walls" and all of it's character and "characters"!! LOL..We also investigated every inch of the "Navy Pier" and ate at "Bubba Gumps" and then the next time we went down the Pier and ate at another cute spot on the water! It was wonderful! The weather was too!!!
The weather cooperated with us for the most part and it was wonderful! **(If you want to read the "story" please check out my blog at: www.youNmeandacuppatea.blogspot.com. It is full of stories from the past & present. It combines some good and uplifting stories with some not so much uplifting but full of candor and a Mother's Love for her children!) We couldn't have asked for better weather really, at this time of year in the unpredictable Midwest.
As we started on our way, my motorized scooter had become "dead" and the battery itself had "died"! We had no time to get a new one before the trip. But again, it is 9 years old almost ! So we'll get that checked out later, but in the mean time I had to make do with my seated walker, but hated it! I hate "looking sick" and to me, the walker makes me "look" sicker! Oh well, I needed some kind of help and that was what was available so I had to make it work! I also used my cane but the walker for the most part.
For just a little explanation of the pictures, we went to the Millenium park first off on Friday when we arrived. Then we visited the Navy Pier and met my cousin Tom and his wife for dinner at "Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co". It was a great time and the company was wonderful, the scenery was super and the food was just "O.K." this time (not quite as delectable as we had remembered it being)!
After that we were off to bed for the night after seeing the park in the dark, night time hours for awhile..playing in the water and taking funny pictures in front of the wall which was "blue" and lit up; but was supposed to be "spitting faces" where one person on each side, one face in each picture from each of the 2 "wall/fountains" show up as faces and morph into "spitting water across to each other"!!! It's very fun to watch and we did get to see it in the day time but the night time it was not there. The "taste of Chicago " was also going on in Grant park but we stayed clear of there with so many people.
We took in all the sights, the Magnificant Mile shopping boardwalk and sales (if any) and checked out every nook and cranny of the city ,that was available and able to get to for us!
We ate al Fresco! All of us enjoy that! We thought the breakfast spots were so full and hectic with crowds of people so when we found a "Panera bread and Cafe'" like home....we were eccstatic!! We sat outdoors in the sunshine and warm air, drank our coffees and talked with eachother intelligently and warmly like a family should talk with their 22 year old daughter who is also the "light of their life"!!
Well, like I said, if you want the full blown story, go ahead and read my blog...you can go back in time on it and find interesting stories, sad stories of family times gone bad and alot of good, fun and interesting stories that you may be intrigued by!
