Oh my!!..... It's a wonderful day on October 16, 2011, in Michigan. We forget how beautiful our lovely state is and the four seasons that go along with it. I feel so lucky to be able to have the beautiful autumn colors. The red, orange, yellow and brown that make up this beautiful time of the year and show up on the trees to prove that all life around us is a miracle.
We took a drive to the Cider mill as we do at least once per year ever since my first daughter, Jessica was born. We would "plop" her down next to a pumpkin and quickly snap a picture and every year we could see how much she'd grown. Then when Amy came along we took the two of them. Then when it was just my girls and me for those 6 years or so, I took them to the "pumpkin patch" (that's what we called it when they were small) myself. I was even so "crafty" back then as to make us matching "Pumpkin" or "Ghost" sweatshirts for Fall and we'd wear those to the patch or Cider mill, for our annual event pictures. It was really great to see how much they'd grown each year.
Well....this year as since 2005, Craig and I took Amy to the Cider mill..But in 2009, we had a wonderful and most special surprise in that our very dear "family/friends" were visiting from the UK/Scotland in September and we got to show them our beautiful Fall colors and the "Cider mill". By the way, they also do have a real mill there that smashes the apples and makes apple cider with it. Then people come from all around and sip apple cider, eat warmed cinnamon donuts and sit on little benches while fending off the bees!! LOL...
Today we took Amy to the Cider mill and there were some "crafters" there selling their home made goods. Many children were prancing about playing, running and jumping outdoors while they still can...before "Old man Winter" blows through, in a month or so!! There were many ducks and a little stream and plenty of bumble bees to fend off while we tried to eat our caramel apples and donuts with apple cider.
We took our several pictures as usual. This year we even saw some very cute minature dogs with little Halloween outfits on their shivering little bodies. It was "Sunday", our "family" day...the one day that we all connect, even if we are busy during the week. We try to always do something as a "family" on Sundays, even if only for an hour or two. Below and above and in between, you will see some of the pictures that we took today. I thought I would share this experience because we had such a nice and fun, enjoyable "family" experience!! I love doing this each year and I hope we can someday do it with our grandchildren too...and who knows...maybe...just maybe we'll have our own little doggie to dress up one day!! LOL....don't laugh at me you guys....all of you who know the "history" of me and my "not getting/getting" a dog "blues"...ha ha...thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the pictures!
