THE Wedding Day....Dreams Do Come True

Hello Luvs,

Well, we had a change of plans and my youngest daughter and her fiance' decided after Christmas, to surprise us with a huge change of wedding day plans! They wanted to get married January 11, 2014; instead of  July 11, 2014!  We were sort of in shock (but happy) and there was a great reason for the switch; it is "Love"...and we love our kids and we rolled with it!  They didn't want to wait and they didn't want to waste thousands of dollars owed to all of the wedding expenses! It was a beautiful Venue where they were first going to do it, but things turned out even more beautiful anyways!
We all helped them and I helped them with some of the smaller details.  We got things done  little by little as quickly as we could.  They just didn't want to wait any longer to be together. They were tired of not living together and wanted to be together. They just did not want waste so much money for just a few hours of celebration. They preferred to save money for a home for themselves and the family they hope to build one day.
I got busy with my daughter, trying to find a dress, shoes and a venue. They had just both moved out pretty far from "home" and to separate apartments. Because they both had relocated to pretty far cities from where they were  originally ...they didn't really have time to belong to any church for prerequisite time period. There was not a  long enough time to plan a wedding and all of the pre-wedding classess that young pre-marrieds usually go through.     We had the hardest time, although they had a friend of her fiance's, who's a minister, say that he'd love to do the officiating...so that was exciting, fun and lucky!
We finally found a venue at the "Hellenic Cultural Center" as well. They helped provide a great DJ at a super price and they took care of the bigger details.  My husband and I went and met the florist with my BFF, because she wanted to pay for the flowers, as her gift to the couple. That was so nice of her!  So we 3, spent a couple of hours with the florist and texting back and forth to my daughter to show her photo's of arrangements etc.  She or they were pretty busy and werent really thinking of flowers at that point. I could tell that they just trusted our judgement (luckily) and wanted to move on to the more important or bigger things to get done? I'm just guessing....
I ended up giving her a bridal shower because her Maid of Honor was going to be on Christmas vacation in Florida until the night prior to the shower!   It was awesome!! I do have pain issues and a nerve disease called "RSD/CRPSII" and it was a little bit difficult to do, but I enjoyed being able to do it for them, very much. I wanted to do and was happy to do it. The fact that my friends pitched in and brought some food and everyone helped me clean up afterwards, was really great!
I have some great and wonderful kids and friends. It went well and I think everyone had a great time. I even gave each guest (about 20), a pair of earrings that I had made. Remember, I make jewelry when I'm able?  I do... and I have a jewelry website as well and try to sell it for proceeds to go to finding a cure, doing research etc for "RSD/CRPS", a painful nerve disease.  Well, the shower went well and was awesome. The wedding was so beautiful. I think it was the most fun night I've ever had....probably in forever! it was kind of humorous that just a few nights before the big day, Craig and I were on the floor counting out colors of "M And M's" and putting them by color into the little pretty "favor bags" for the guests. Next, we tied on the little tags that I found and had made online, that said "Grant and Amy 1-11-14". It was pretty neat to find something so special, within such time constraints!
The day of the wedding, we even went to check the newlyweds into their hotel (that was part of their gift from us). I had bought some little champagne glasses and painted very carefully "Bride" and "Groom" on them. We placed them in the room, along with a tub full of ice or I guess it was actually the sink..LOL...But we put sparkling grape juice into the ice so it would be cold for them later on in the night. We also left a huge box of Whitman's chocolates, just for some romantic ambiance! We tried hard to make this the best wedding that we could and show them how much we love them. Lastly, I had arranged for some little girl "Scottish Highland dancers" to come and do a "traditional sword dance and tribute to the bride and groom".  My daughters old Highland dance teacher brought 3 of her younger, but very polished dancers and they did a sword dance, a highland fling and then the "tribute". The "tribute" was that each of the 3 girls presented the bride and groom with a "gift". First there was the Heather bouquet for the bride (I had to find and order it at a special florist!). Next, the groom was given a piece of the "Stewart tartan" to  Welcome him to the family! Lastly, they were given a lantern, and it is so that they will always have light on their path in life! The dancers were so elegant and beautifully talented! It was the one if the highlights of the wedding, even the bride said so! Whew....I was so glad to hear that! Well..SHE was actually the BEAUTIFUL SHINING STAR.. and the highlight of the wedding...but the dancers  were wonderful!!

It was so awesome watching her come down the aisle and she looked like a beautiful princess...I don't usually write so much in this blog because I leave it up to the pictures to tell the story! But thought I'd just explain a little background info, due to the change in timing of this wedding...enjoy the pictures!! Thank you for coming!....love, Suz
